‘HYPERLOOP’ WIND AT TEKNOFEST, THE WORLD’S LARGEST TECHNOLOGY FESTIVAL:

Erciyas Holding, one of Turkey’s leading investment groups, showed up with its future-shaping pipeline project at the TEKNOFEST – ‘Hyperloop Development Competition’, held at TUBITAK Gebze Campus on August 15-19. Erciyas, which produces the steel pipes used in the Hyperloop tunnel as part of the infrastructure of the TÜBİTAK RUTE – Institute of Rail Transportation Technologies, the organizer of the competition, produced the 208-meter Hyperloop pipeline for students to use their race prototype vehicles in the organization where 16 teams from 38 universities competed. Erciyas Holding, which contributed to the creation of a competitive prototype line of the Hyperloop concept, which is called the ‘5th Mode’ after land, sea, air and rail, attracted a lot of attention from young science enthusiasts.

Erciyas Holding, Chief Executive Officer Emre Erciyas, highlighting that their partnership with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT), one of the leading companies in the world working on the Hyperloop concept, has continued since 2017. Beyond dreams. We are very excited to be part of this project that reflects the future together with global brands. We are still working on the 5 kilometer functional prototype Hyperloop line. As a company that has taken the leading role in our region in this special project, which has the potential to radically change the transportation system and the lifestyle of the world, we are very happy to work with the future scientists of our country in a to be such an organisation. Our young people’s interest in Hyperloop technology makes us much more hopeful for our future. As Erciyas Holding, we will continue to support all students in the winning team by providing internship opportunities in our company.”

Aviation, Space and Technology Festival – TEKNOFEST, the world’s largest technology event, continues to meet science and technology enthusiasts in various cities of Turkey. The ‘Hyperloop Development Competition’, organized for the first time this year under the leadership of TÜBİTAK RUTE, in the context of TEKNOFEST Technology competitions, was held in Kocaeli on August 15-19. In the competition, in which Erciyas Holding was one of the supporters, 16 university teams made up of undergraduate and graduate students competed fiercely with the prototypes they prepared for the Hyperloop concept.

Hyperloop Development Competition is designed as a technology-oriented competition that will enable undergraduate and graduate students to develop magnetic suspension and propulsion technologies and gain knowledge about new generation transportation technologies.

teams; They were evaluated in terms of capsule design, communication with control center, propulsion system design, levitation (suspension) system design, braking system and racing safety. In addition, they were scored in the Progress Report, Technical Design Report and Pre-Race Checklists, Remote Control and Capsule Movement headings.

Hyperloop is considered the transportation technology of the future

Erciyas Holding Chief Executive Officer Emre Erciyas, who provided information on the details of the project, stated that they are continuing their investments in line with their dreams of a better world and said: “As Erciyas Holding, today, with our steel tubing group of companies , rail – logistics, energy, mobility – transport, we operate worldwide in four different sectors and are active in more than 90 countries Investing in initiatives that will shape the future is an important part of our dream of a better world. We see the Hyperloop Project as a very important step towards this dream.

The Hyperloop concept, first put on the global agenda by Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX companies, and using mass-produced steel tubing in space technology for the first time in the world; in fact, it involves freight and passenger transport that can reach a speed of 1,200 kilometers in a frictionless environment in steel pipes. I believe that interest in Hyperloop, which is already seen as the transportation technology of the future, will grow exponentially in the near future.”

Together with world giants we develop hyperloop technology

Emre Erciyas stated that they were involved in the project with their group company Erciyas Çelik Boru in 2017 and that they signed an agreement with HyperloopTT early this year to become a large-scale supplier and investor of Hyperloop pipelines.

“We became the Hyperloop Project’s steel pipe supplier as part of our partnership with the project’s executive Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT). As a company, we have the final say in many matters, from pipe procurement to design, in the project, which is the world’s first, for the 5km functional prototype Hyperloop line.

There is great interest and support for this HyperloopTT project. Worldwide, more than 800 scientists and engineers contribute. In the Hyperloop Project, the world-renowned Japanese technology giant Hitachi, the signaling part of the system; European-based multinational aviation company Airbus is responsible for the production of capsules for the train passing through the pipeline. We have carried out the steel pipe production of the system with our company, Erciyas Çelik Boru, which is capable of large-scale mass production.

Being a pioneer in our region in developing the Hyperloop concept is a very important step that we as Erciyas Holding have taken to be part of the future. hyperloop; It is a fast, efficient, safe, sustainable and profitable mode of transport. It cures three things; to the busy city life in the world, the increasing car traffic and the environmental and climate crisis. The importance of the project towards a sustainable future is increasing by the day.

The balance sheets of the world’s real estate sector will undergo a major transformation once you can travel at speeds of up to 1,200 km/h with this mode of transport. People no longer have to live in the cities where they work. They continue to work in the city and are given the opportunity to live in the countryside. In particular, the European Commission has started to expand the rail network and stimulate the use of rail to achieve CO2 neutrality by 2050 in accordance with the Green Deal, including the future transport concept Hyperloop as one of the innovative solutions on this area, what’s the point of this step we’ve taken? It shows how true it is. “
