Apple is expanding the service program for the iPhone 12

According to the latest rumours, It’s likely that the iPhone 1 launch event is just over two weeks away4, the long-awaited generation both to learn about its new design and, above all, to check whether there will finally be so many differences between the base models 14 and 14 Max compared to the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. And the thing is that for the first time, Apple could fit different SoCs in models of the same generation, while its latest version remained only for the Pro.

Be that as it may, and while the focus these days is on the models to come, we mustn’t forget a huge number of iPhones from other generations that are still on the market. And the very current generation today is the iPhone 12 generation, the predecessor of the current generation. Just look at the sales of three of its four models (all but the debuting Mini) to get an idea of how many must still be running.

If you’re one of them, you probably remember that last year we told you about the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro speaker issue (doesn’t affect the Mini or Pro Max). Some devices have been known to a component in the receiver module may have problems which cause the phone’s audio signal to degrade to the extent that it is practically imperceptible when making calls.

Apple is expanding the service program for the iPhone 12

As we told you back then, Apple Launches Its “iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Audio Issues” Service Program, the measure you can already assume is actually a free repair of all devices affected by this problem. Even with strict quality controls, it is inevitable that these problems will occur from time to time. So the indicator that is really key in these cases is the company’s response, and in this case Apple acted appropriately and provided the response that can be expected in this type of situation.

In its original terms, this program was extended by two years from the purchase of the affected iPhone 12, but in a subtle way Apple has modified this point to extend the program’s coverage to three years from purchase. In this link you can see the current extension and the date of the last change (both points at the end of the document), while in this link you can find the web version on July 25, where the duration was two years.

However, keep in mind that if your iPhone 12 suffers from this problem and you take it in for repair using this service plan, Apple always conditions repairs on the device not having other problems. If so, it is a necessary condition to repair them (which of course will not be free if it is not included in the warranty.
