In the first half of the year, Kyivstar spent more than UAH 1.7 billion on the development and restoration of its telecom network.

This was reported to Ukrinform by the press service of the national mobile operator.

“The company is not only rebuilding mobile equipment destroyed by war, but also building new, modern base stations to provide residents of Ukraine with access to 4G communications,” the message said.

Thus, as of February 24, 2022, Kyivstar has built 230 new 4G base stations.

In particular, 30 base stations were installed in the Kyiv region – Bilotserkiv, Vyshhorod, Makariv, Buchan and Brovar regions. In the south of Ukraine, Kyivstar is strengthening its radio network in the Odessa and Mykolaiv regions. In six months, 21 new base stations were installed in the regions of Izmail, Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky, Bereziv and Pervomai.

In addition, new construction is underway even in areas hit by the attacker’s bombardment. Thus, 7 base stations were established in the Zhytomyr and Kharkiv regions, and 10 each in the Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia regions.

Kyivstar has built more than 130 new base stations in western Ukraine. Since the beginning of Russia’s armed aggression, these regions received the largest number of forced migrants. According to Kyivstar in particular, about 5 million subscribers migrated to western Ukraine. As a result, mobile traffic in settlements in western Ukraine is growing rapidly – 60% compared to pre-war. In some cities such as Mukacheve, Truskavets, mobile traffic increased by almost 100%.

Kyivstar takes care to protect and help the population from the threats of war. Thus, the company equipped more than 1,260 shelters with free internet in various cities of Ukraine and also provided internet to 360 modular homes for displaced people. The company has also allocated UAH 300 million to support cybersecurity and restore the country’s digital infrastructure as part of the United24 state platform implemented under the auspices of the President of Ukraine. In addition, Kyivstar transferred more than UAH 49 million for humanitarian needs of the army, hospitals, the elderly and war victims.

Also, as stated in the message, Kyivstar supports subscribers, helping them stay in touch with their relatives and friends. In 6 months of 2022, subscribers received bonuses and free services from the telecom operator in the amount of 563 million UAH. And in 30 countries of the world, Kyivstar subscribers can use their roaming service at “home” tariffs.

Kyivstar is Ukraine’s largest electronic communications operator, serving 24.8 million mobile subscribers and more than 1.2 million “Home Internet” subscribers as of June 2022. The company offers a wide range of mobile and fixed technologies-based services, including 4G.
