DJI has released a new drone called Avata, which belongs to the category of FPV quadcopter, which allows you to observe the flight from the first person. The novelty received a characteristic form factor of drones of this type with protective covers covering the propellers, characterized by high speed and maneuverability, as well as with the necessary stabilization technology to obtain a neat picture.
The DJI Avata is equipped with a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor with 48 MP resolution, an f/2.8 aperture and an ultra-wide-angle lens with up to 155ยบ angle of view. The drone can shoot 4K video at up to 60 frames per second and 2.7K video at up to 120 frames per second. Users don’t have to worry about memory as the drone has 20GB of internal memory and supports microSD cards. The manufacturers also announced support for the D-Cinelike color profile for post-processing of footage. The DJI Avata is equipped with an infrared sensor system and a bottom view system that uses two cameras for better navigation. There are three flight modes: normal, manual and sport. All parameters and settings are in the DJI Fly app.
The drone is controlled using the DJI Goggles 2 remote control and video headset, developed specifically for the company’s new quadcopter models. DJI Goggles 2 is a new generation video headset with a more sensitive Micro OLED display than its predecessor and an adjustable diopter for eyeglass wearers. The headset connects to the drone using DJI O3+ wireless technology. This allows you to stream the picture in real time in 1080p format at a rate of up to 100 frames per second. The delay is 30 ms and the maximum communication range is 10 km.
The DJI Motion Controller allows the operator to perform complex maneuvers such as instant braking and gliding in flight with one hand. There is a separate button on the remote that automatically returns the drone to where it was launched.
The DJI Avata is available on the company’s website and at various retail stores for $629 for the drone itself or $1,388 for a bundle with DJI Goggles 2 and DJI Motion Controller.
