As noted, the Starliner flight with two NASA test pilots is scheduled for February 2023. Previously, the company hoped to launch it by the end of the year.
Boeing launched the Starliner without a crew twice, most recently in May. Despite engine problems and other technical difficulties, the capsule was able to dock with the International Space Station on its second launch. Boeing program manager Mark Nappi said these issues need to be resolved before the NASA astronauts board.
Starliner debuted in 2019. The capsule’s first test flight with the dummy was interrupted by a series of software issues, prompting the developers to update it.
Meanwhile, SpaceX is preparing for the sixth flight with the NASA crew scheduled for early October.
As reported by Ukrinform, in May Boeing’s Starliner space capsule successfully returned to Earth from the ISS.
