This week Google sent out a statement to its users stating that meetings on Google Meetings of three or more people will again have a limit 1 hour. Now, in order to stay connected for more than 60 minutes, participants will have to complete subscription to one of the tariff plans.

Google Meet: How to Record a Meeting

It should be noted that the company has free meeting in April 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, making appointments, classes and virtual meetings possible. In the same year, Google stated that it would not set an hourly limit on calls until September 30, however, this deadline was extended until March 31, 2021 and again until June 30.

Due to the high demand for the service, major video conferencing platforms and messaging apps have received several updates to improve the quality of their calls. Last year whatsapp for example, launched a video and voice calling app for Windows. Earlier this year, Zoom added a feature that allows you to stream meetings on Twitch.

Change does not affect individual calls

It is worth noting that the restriction applies only to meetings with more than 3 people (up to 100 participants), that is individual calls for non-paying users, they will still be valid for 24 hours. Thus, for calls with a large number of participants, after 50 minutes, participants will receive a notification that the meeting has ended. “To continue, the caller can update their Google account. Otherwise, the call will end in 60 minutes.”the company said in a statement.

On all available plans, subscribers will be able to access meetings for up to 24 hours. The company plans to offer video conferencing and voice calls to 100 to 500 people, according to the company.

Alternatives

Besides being able to generate another link or subscribe to a service, there are other free platforms that can be useful. WhatsApp, for example, now allows up to 32 people to participate in video calls. Skype, on the other hand, allows free meetings of up to 100 people with no time limit.
