Create a USB drive to install Chrome OS Flex

• open Google Chrome in your PRACHA (this does not have to be on the PC that will become the Chromebook or Chromebox) and install the extension ”Chromebook Recovery Utility”.

• On the extensions icon, navigate to the option more action (…) extensions Chromebook Recovery Utility and select manage extension.

• On the page that opens, make sure the extension is enabled.

• On the extensions icon, click on the extension Chromebook Recovery Utility to download the installer.

• In the window that opens, select let’s start.

• click in Select a model from the list.

• Select options from the available menus Google Chrome OS Flex as well as Flexible version of Chrome OS and press Continue.

• Insert USB stick on PC and select it from the available menu and press Continue.

• After installation is complete, click GOOD to close the extension application and remove the USB drive from the computer.

Install Chrome OS Flex

• Insert USB stick on the computer you want to turn into a Chromebook or Chromebox.
• Turn on your computer and select the USB drive as the boot device.. Each PC does this differently, so check your manual or other source to see what it looks like on your particular device.
• Select your location and click Install.

• Connect to a Wi-Fi network or connect an Ethernet cable to your device to access the Internet.

• Accept Google’s terms to continue.
• Choose who will use Chrome OS Flex and press Promote.

• log in with your Google account on your device and select Promote. Device settings may vary depending on the type of account associated during installation.

• Choose whether or not to allow Google to collect data from your computer hardware and click Promote.

• Choose how Google Assistant integrates with your device.
• Click complete installation.

• Finally, your Chrome OS device will be ready to use.
