A new report shows that Huawei still has the most active smartphone users. But how is this possible for a company that has been under US sanctions since 2019?

The chart below shows that Huawei (原文) has a 25 percent share of active Chinese smartphone users. It is followed by Apple and Oppo. And all this despite the fact that Huawei’s supplies are declining rapidly – the company is no longer even among the top 5 suppliers in China.

Why is Huawei keeping so many active users? First, it is largely linked to the unfavorable economic situation. People’s demand for consumer electronics is showing signs of slowing down. Additionally, Counterpoint data shows that the loss cycle for Chinese users increased from 24.3 months to 31 months at the beginning of 2019. Huawei, on the other hand, has a solid foundation – the company was the market leader in the past.
