The Japanese company Honda Motor Co. Together with the South Korean company LG Energy Solution Ltd, it will establish a joint plant for the production of batteries for electric vehicles in the United States.

The total investment will be USD 4.4 billion.

Construction of the battery plant will begin at the beginning of next year, and mass production of batteries for electric cars will begin at the end of 2025.

All lithium-ion batteries manufactured at the facility will be used to power electric vehicles sold under the Honda and Acura brands in North America, the companies said in a joint press release.

The exact location of the facility has not yet been determined.

In March, automaker Honda Motor Co. Sony Group Corp. agreed with. Sony Honda Mobility Inc. In Tokyo for the production of next generation electric cars.

“In line with our longstanding commitment to creating products close to consumers, Honda is committed to locally source electric vehicle batteries, which are a critical component of electric vehicles,” said Honda President Toshihiro Mibe.
