The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has canceled the August 29 launch of the SLS launch vehicle with a space module as part of Artemis 1’s mission
This is reported by the Space.com portal, according to Ukrinform reports.
As noted, the reason for this decision was a problem with one of the rocket’s four engines.
After numerous failed troubleshooting attempts, the launch team ran out of time and were unable to complete the preparations needed to launch Artemis 1 before the two-hour launch “window” closed.
Engineers will continue to collect launch vehicle test data to determine the cause of the rocket engine problem.
The launch vehicle’s new launch date is not yet known, but the closest launch window will open on September 4.
As reported, the launch of the SLS launch vehicle is part of the Artemis 1 mission, a multibillion-dollar NASA program aimed at returning humans to the Moon to practice for Mars missions.
