“From the first days of Nokia’s invasion of Ukraine, it was clear that it was impossible to maintain our presence in Russia. In recent weeks we have suspended supplies, stopped new business and moved our limited research activities outside of Russia. We can now announce its withdrawal from the Russian market,” he said.
At the same time, Nokia reminded that Western countries warned against humanitarian collapse of telecommunications networks in Russia, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that Russians maintain access to the Internet and external information.
Therefore, even after leaving Russia, the company will remain committed to maintaining these networks and applying for the licenses necessary to provide this support, as long as it does not conflict with existing sanctions.
The company also noted that Russia accounted for less than 2% of our net sales in 2021.
“Given the high demand we have seen in other regions, we do not expect this decision to affect our ability to meet our forecasts for 2022,” the statement said.
As Ukrinform reported, on February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation launched a war without reason against Ukraine. The invaders are bombing and shelling peaceful towns and villages in Ukraine, torturing and killing civilians.
Hundreds of world-famous companies stopped working in Russia, thus demonstrating that they would finance the state that started the war in Ukraine.
