Twitter circles are now available to everyone

A few months ago, we first learned about Twitter circles, a feature that the company’s engineers had been working on for some time and that at the time debuted in a limited beta. I thought about it even then, and since then I still think it’s one of the most interesting features of the social network in terms of having some control over the scope of our publications.

As we told you then, with Twitter circles you can select an audience of up to 150 social network users and when you send a message, you can choose whether it’s visible to everyone, or whether it’s only visible to people you’ve added to your circle. Be careful, it doesn’t mean they will necessarily see it, just that if they access your timeline or the algorithm decides to show it on theirs, those will be the only people who will have access to it.

It’s been a long time coming, finally Twitter she announced today that Twitter circles are now available to all users of the social network. But it is true that during the first few hours the function failed a lot and did not allow users to be added to our circle. However, it seems that the issue has already been resolved, so users can now start configuring their rings from both the Android and iOS apps and the web interface.

The reception was as we see if we access the social network, extremely positive, with quite a few users trying it out and some even considering it as an alternative option to “Protect Your Tweets”, a feature of the social network commonly known as a lock. However, in this case, it should be taken into account that the audience can be much more limited, because as I already indicated, the maximum size of the circle is 150 users, while the account protected by singing does not have a limit on followers.

It’s neither good nor bad by itselfbecause it depends on the intention with which we tweet. For users who have already established certain ties with other members of the social network, circles are an excellent option to limit the reach of more personal posts as much as possible. However, for those who want to increase their followers or maintain a wider reach, but want some guarantees, lock protection is still the most effective option.
