EGIAD; In today’s world, where energy sources are quickly exhausted and energy saving is of great importance for a sustainable world, an important step has been taken to stop energy waste. The crisis in Ukraine increased the risks in Turkey, which is 99.1% foreign-dependent for natural gas and 92.4% for oil and its products. EGİAD – Aegean Young Business People Association, which seeks solutions to avoid business deadlock due to rising energy costs, has signed a protocol with Setaş Energy to raise awareness for energy saving and awareness among member companies with the Project” Energy Check Up”. EGİAD President Alp Avni Yelkenbiçer stated that everyone has a great responsibility to use energy more efficiently. Chairman of the Board of Directors Alp Avni Yelkenbiçer, General Manager of Setaş Energy Sertaç Yılmaz and members attended the protocol ceremony at EGİAD’s headquarters in Alsancak. Speaking at the ceremony, EGİAD Chairman of the Board Alp Avni Yelkenbiçer pointed out that resources are running out quickly and that saving energy is of great importance for a sustainable world, saying: “Energy saving is of great importance to all of us. The amount paid by Turkey for energy imports, which imports more than 90 percent of its energy and is a foreign-dependent country for energy, was $5 billion 427 million $439 thousand, an increase of 159.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year , according to 2021 figures. As the energy deficit grew due to global warming, industrialization and increasing world population, energy resources were rapidly depleted accordingly. The war between Ukraine and Russia also increased these costs. Everyone has a great responsibility to overcome the energy bottleneck and use energy more efficiently. In EGIAD, continuity between periods is essential. We are very happy to repeat our energy checkup project, which was carried out in the 12th term 2013”.

Resources are exhausted

Yelkenbiçer said there is a great need for the Energy Check-up Project: “As energy resources are depleted, energy prices are rising rapidly. Therefore, the importance and necessity of saving energy emerges as a concept that is better understood every day. The “Energy Check-Up” project, which we have set up to reduce production costs and increase competitiveness, starts with this agreement that we signed today for this purpose. In this context, by partnering with Setaş Energy, an accredited company based in İzmir, we are launching an important service where our members will not pay a price for more efficient energy consumption and savings. As part of the project, free energy check-up activities will be carried out in our members’ companies and energy efficiency will be significantly increased on a company basis.”

Competitiveness will increase

Sertaç Yılmaz, General Manager of Setaş Energy, pointed out that energy efficiency increases competitiveness and said: “EGİAD has established itself there as an association with high environmental awareness with this project. It has once again proven that it is a sensitive non-governmental organization in this regard. With this project, we will create a new energy perspective that is more efficient and beneficial for the company, the factory and the world from the ground up.”
