All messengers have some things in common about how their blocking features work. Let’s consider the common and their differences.

Telegram

This messenger is becoming more and more popular thanks to its functionality and promised security and is rapidly growing its audience. It is mainly chosen by young people who value technology and the regular appearance of new functions.

If you want to block someone, go to the user’s page and select “Block” from the menu. At the same time, the blocked person will not receive any notifications and your chats on both sides will not change: all messages and media remain available.

• The only visual change to notice is the disappearance of the avatar. If you are blocked, you will no longer see the main photo of the addressee.and the first letters of the name will now be displayed in its place.
• The most important thing is that now none of your messages will be delivered to the addressee – next to the message bubbles there will be a checkmark instead of two. Also, please note that if you type text, the “Writing” status will appear on that end.
• In the case of calls, everything is clearer: the messenger will not create the job view, but will immediately write “Failed to connect”, referring to the privacy settings.
• After a few minutes, the sign “Too long ago” will appear in the visit status of your interlocutor.

What’s up?

The messenger from the Meta company did not differ much from the previous one. Although it doesn’t have as many functions as Telegram offers, WhatsApp remains among the best messengers in Ukraine.

Here, the blocking situation is very similar:

• Messages go “one way”, leaving the read mark gray instead of blue.
• The avatar will also disappear and instead you will see a schematic representation of a person’s silhouette.
• For calls, the story is a little different – if you try to call the user who has blocked you, you will hear beeps, but no calls or notifications on the other end.

viber

Finally, Viber is the latest messenger that has long been the leader among Ukrainian users. It is often used in corporate communication.

As in previous cases, if you have been blacklisted, you will not know about it directly. There will be no notifications in chat about blocking or blocking messages or calls.

• You can determine that the addressee has blocked you with only one tick: messages are not delivered even though the contact is “Online” (a gray tick).

• The “Online” status may not be displayed, but if someone is explicitly logged into Viber and your messages are in the “Undelivered” status, the result is obvious.
• At the same time, your outgoing call in Viber will forever show “Call”, but the addressee will not even see it.

If the interlocutor blocks you, all the messages that you wrote to him while in the bathroom will not be delivered, but will be displayed in your reading status.
