Manifest V3 is a programming interface for extensions that manages what extensions can and cannot do in the Chrome browser. Its announcement took place in 2018, but the developers of the extensions came to mind only now, a few months after the app.

The new rules caused serious concern among developers, especially when Google announced in January 2023 that all Manifest V2 extensions would be disabled. We wrote earlier that a way to bypass the third version of Manifest has yet to be invented, but the AdGuard company quickly showed that this was not the case – probably in response to mass media panics about this issue. It has released the first ad blocker whose work is coordinated with the upcoming update.

Despite all the limitations, AdGuard says its new extension Although not as effective as before, it can remove ads and protect against trackers. Most users shouldn’t notice any significant difference other than the flickering of the ad blocks.
