This was reported by the European Space Agency (ESA), as reported by Ukrinform.
The exoplanet in the telescope image is HIP 65426 b. It is about 6 to 8 times the mass of Jupiter and is young (about 15 to 20 million years old) compared to 4.5 billion years old Earth.
Astronomers discovered the planet in 2017 using the SPHERE instrument on the European Southern Observatory’s Large Telescope in Chile and imaged it using short infrared wavelengths.
The James Webb image taken in mid-infrared light reveals new details that ground-based telescopes cannot detect.
As reported by Ukrinform, the James Webb space telescope has taken several new photos of the planet Jupiter.
The most powerful telescope “James Webb” (James Webb), worth 10 billion dollars, was launched into space at the end of December. Among the main objectives of the observatory is the study of the first exoplanets, protostars.
