Since 2014, the international lawsuit against the return of the Lybid satellite, located in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, to Ukraine continues.
This was announced by Volodymyr Taftay, head of the Ukrainian State Space Agency (SCAU), in an interview with Ukrinform.
“The Lybid satellite is being sued by international arbitration to recover or reimburse the funds spent on this project. It is quite a long job. International lawsuits are ongoing, but I am confident that we will either return the project or withdraw money from our supplier,” he said.
According to him, there is no direct relationship between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in the context of the return of the satellite. The case concerns a Canadian company that collaborated with Russia in the production of the satellite and is about to launch it into orbit.
As reported, “Lybid” – Ukrainian geostationary telecommunications satellite, scheduled for launch. It was designed to form the National Satellite Communication System.
Currently, the satellite, the launch of which has been repeatedly delayed, is stored in the Russian company “Satellite Information Systems” in Krasnoyarsk.
