It’s not for less. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is the most ambitious series Amazon has ever produced. And the most expensive in television history. Prime Video was born somewhat in the shadow of the trio of giants Netflix, HBO or Disney, but there is no doubt about the economic potential of the e-commerce giant. You already know that this is a fantasy adventure set in the universe created by JRR Tolkien and specifically in the Second Age of Middle Earth. The story takes place many years before the events we saw in the movies Lord of the Rings Y The Hobbit.

Although the series claims to be based on the supplements of Tokien’s own books, I agree with the analysis published by my colleague Pomeyrol in the latest VOD weekly. There is very little of Tolkien’s substanceat least in the first two episodes shown, directed by the Spaniard Juan Antonio García Bayona, with remarkable technical billing, as expected.

That may not be a negative, although we’ll have to see the rest of the series to judge.
