In just over three months It will be the second anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077’s release. No doubt you remember that it was one of the most popular releases in recent years, but not for the better. A lot of broken promises from CD Projekt RED, and this led to an endless list of bugs, absolutely pathetic versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, AI models and NPCs not worthy of a triple A, vertical density much less than the company promised … in short, an absolute disaster.
Personally, as someone who bought it (actually, in duplicate, both the Stadia version and the GOG version), I felt completely let down by CD Projekt RED, the studio that had mesmerized us until now with The Witcher Trilogy and The Good Old Man. Games, a gaming store with the best conditions and which also allows you to get great classics at very reasonable prices. All the prestige, harvested over the years, filtered down the channel at the speed of light.
Despite the disaster, however the company has promised to release patches to fix all the issues (well, the solvable ones, of course) and since then, admittedly, they’ve stuck with it, with new updates every so often. So far, the last major update was the one from March of this year, and it finally marked the long-awaited arrival of Cyberpunk 2077 for the current generation of consoles, a long-awaited and celebrated milestone.
Although the 1.5 update meant a before and after, to the extent that for many users it finally meant what Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to be when it was published. But that doesn’t mean that CD Projekt RED was satisfied. Doubtless, in order to recover at least some of the lost prestige, hthey continued to work on improvements to the game and subsequently as you can read in a tweet up, tomorrow will be a presentation dedicated to Cyberpunk Edgerunners, the Netflix anime that premieres at the end of September, but that will surely also mean the presentation of update 1.6 and/or DLC news announced practically since the launch of the game .
At the time, yes, CD Projekt RED promised free DLC that was originally supposed to see the light of day early last year. However, for some time now what was heard are paid DLCs. With any luck, we will find out tomorrow whether the company has remained true to its original purpose or, on the contrary, it will be time for the cash register.
