Chinese authorities on Monday approved an inhalable vaccine against covid-19, a world-first, which increased its Tianjin-based manufacturer’s stock list.
CanSino Biologics’ vaccine to be used as an emergency booster dose has received the green light from the country’s medical products administration, the company said in a statement posted to the Hong Kong stock exchange on Sunday.
Following the announcement, the company’s share price rose as much as 14% in the stock market on Monday, closing with a 7.1% gain.
The vaccine, which does not require an injection and is easier to store, will be administered nasally by aerosol.

“If the vaccine is then purchased and used by relevant government agencies, approval will have a positive impact on the company’s results,” the statement said. Said.
Scientists from around the world, such as Cuba, Canada, and the United States, are working on vaccines that can be administered through the nose, which is an entryway for the coronavirus.
Since 2020, China has approved eight locally developed COVID-19 vaccines, but has yet to allow foreign vaccines to be used on its territory.
