O The launch date for the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro has already been set: September 7th., next Wednesday at 14:00. And according to information released this week by insider Mark Gurman, Apple plans to reveal another new product during the event. We are talking about the brand’s new wireless headphones, AirPods Pro 2.

Contrary to some earlier speculation pointing to a complete modernization, Gurman argues that the new AirPods Pro 2 will have almost the same shape and look the first generation, making only “a few improvements” on the outside.

Internal changes and many technologies

While the AirPods Pro 2 may look almost identical on the outside, inside they will get a number of new technologies, starting with upgraded version of H1 chip, responsible for sound processing.

he might bring support Lossless ALAC codec and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

Another novelty seems to be the LC3 audio codec found in the latest Apple headphone firmware. LC3, although not lossless like ALAC, allows data and audio to be transmitted at a higher bit rate than the current standard, which should lead to higher sound quality, efficiency and stability.

Lightning or USB-C? place a bet

The sources heard also suggest that The AirPods Pro 2 charging case will keep the same thickness from 21mm. However, the height of the new model will be 46 mm (against 45.2 mm for the current generation), and the width – 54 mm (against 60.6 mm for the first version).

Now the question is what type of port Apple will use for recharging.. As 9to5Mac notes, in May of this year, market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the Cupertino-based company would continue to bet on the Lightning standard:

However, in June, rendered images of the alleged enclosure (obtained by the 52audio website) showed a port very similar to the USB-C type. Verify:

Finally, another point of doubt concerns new sensors and features for health and fitness, integrated with Apple services that may be present in the AirPods Pro 2 or even reserved for the third generation.
