OUR xiaomi prepares to enter the electric vehicle market with Xiaomi EV, a four-door sedan with a Lidar sensor. It is expected, according to rumors from LatePost, that the car will be fully engineered in 2024.
Still without official confirmation from the company, it is expected to hit the market at a price of more than 300,000 yuan. This value corresponds to approximately 224 thousand reais in accordance with the current price, but may change before the launch of the car.
The possibility that the car will cost such an amount may disappoint the public who took part in the survey conducted by Xiaomi. In April this year, 1.7 million people responded to the company’s survey requesting that the car not exceed 150,000 yuan.

Although some details of the car have not yet been made public, it is already known that Xiaomi has decided to use Lidar sensors. They will be provided by Hesai Technology, a company specializing in autonomous robotics.
Information published by the LatePost portal indicates that the company has decided to use the Hesai AT128 hybrid lidar sensor in the Xiaomi electric vehicle. It will be the main sensor of the vehicle and will be equipped with additional radars to provide better environmental awareness and increase the range of the vehicle.
The type of sensor chosen by Xiaomi offers a much wider viewing angle, making it excellent in blind spot coverage. The choice is expensive and can directly affect the value of the car, but it offers superiority over what is used by the competition.
Understand what these sensors are and how they work
Lidar is an abbreviation for the words “Light Detection And Ranging”, loosely translated it would be “light detection and range.” Essentially, it uses remote sensing to measure the properties of reflected light. The technology as a whole allows you to measure the correct distance between different objects.
The Lidar sensor is a pulsed laser system. It is widely used to obtain spatial information. As mentioned, it can measure and get the actual distance between objects from each other, but it can also be used to determine measurements. To know exactly how tall a tree is in the Amazon, for example, a plane with a sensor underneath can accurately give this information.

It can also be found under the other name LADAR (Laser Detection and Ranging). The applications, usage and technology are the same, it’s just a different way of being called. Typically, this nomenclature is found in a military context.
In Portuguese, it can also be found under the names Laser Scanning System and Laser Profiling System. All of these terms refer to the same technology. So, what we are going to explain applies to any nomenclature that you are used to.
