It’s clear that Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most controversial releases in all of video game history, but honestly, one of the most important and dedicated for PCespecially at the technical level. CD Projekt RED, responsible for the development of this title, is committed to bringing it to the previous generation consoles and also considering it as a game capable of using the capabilities of new generation consoles, but also the most advanced PC hardware. . All images in this article were taken in-game with maximum active ray tracing using a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.

It is clear to me that the Polish studio was ambitious in this regard, and that means, as I told you then, CD Projekt RED should have completely forgotten about PS4 and Xbox One and with the Cyberpunk 2077 development focus on next-generation systems. Neither PS4 nor Xbox One had powerful enough hardware to run this game under truly acceptable conditions, a topic I covered in detail in this article shortly after the game’s launch, and I invite you to review it if you haven’t had a chance to see it. in your moment. In the end, console hardware is what it is, and we can’t ask for pears on the elm tree.

The PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 was from the beginning, a true miracleand that there were some cuts due to the limitations that CD Projekt RED had to accept in order to bring said game to the old generation. I already told you about it in my technical analysis, and in general, Cyberpunk 2077 is quite a technical boast on PC, a showcase of good work that has nothing to do with the PS4 and Xbox One versions, and which is also very far , above the PS5 and Xbox versions Series XS.

Yes, it is true that the game came with some bugs even in its PC version, but this is a common problem in the sector and CD Projekt RED knew how to sing “mea culpa” and solve these problems with several patches. From the beginning, Cyberpunk 2077 has become a benchmark within the genre thanks to its graphical and technological level, and is so advanced that It even looks great on PS5 and Xbox Series XS.

Cyberpunk 2077 showed the superiority of PC

And it did so overwhelmingly. Night City is a huge city that shines in all its glory only on compatible devices, and that reaches unprecedented graphic level thanks to the use of ray tracing and huge number of NPCs which also behave dynamically depending on the time of day and location. Thus, for example, at certain times and in the most central areas we find a large number of cars and pedestrians passing through the streets, while in the most remote areas the density of NPCs is lower.

The recreation of the city is also fantastic, measuring both horizontally and vertically and giving us aLots of areas and secrets to explore and discover. The beauty of Cyberpunk 2077 is that we can spend time exploring Night City to see different scenarios, and at night there are some places that are truly spectacular. When we add ray tracing to this, the result is so good that it is clear that we are facing a next generation title.

Personally, I am quite clear about it Cyberpunk 2077 is “Crysis” of this generation, which will remain a real reference on a technical level for some time to come, it was not for nothing that it managed to bring the PS5 and Xbox Series X to its knees and became one of the games that makes the best use of ray tracing. This technology is used for global lighting, shadows and ambient occlusion, as well as contact shadows and reflections.

PC is a single platform capable of moving Cyberpunk 2077 with maximum quality and high-quality ray tracing applied to all these fronts, and thanks to its compatibility with rescaling technologies (DLSS and FSR), we can enjoy excellent performance even at maximum settings. The difference this platform makes is so big that the PC version could pass for another generation game, we compare it to PS4 and Xbox One.

CD Projekt RED remains committed to Cyberpunk 2077, but has decided to move on from Xbox One and PS4

As I told you before, this is a Polish studio they should have done from the beginning, switch from Xbox One and PS4 and focus on developing Cyberpunk 2077 around next-gen and PC. I don’t want to imagine the juggling act that CD Projekt RED must have had trying to improve performance on both consoles, even though the sacrifices are more than evident.

This commitment of CD Projekt RED was seen in the many patches that Cyberpunk 2077 received and the release of the version for the next generation of consoles that arrived with patch 1.5. The Polish studio confirmed yesterday that it wasn’t bluffing when it announced that it was working on an expansion for the title, although it ended up surprising us with its announcement Phantom Liberty, the first DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, will not be released on PS4 and Xbox Oneit will only be available for PS5, Xbox Series XS, PC and Stadia.

What does this tell us? I was absolutely right when I told you that the release of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One was a drag for CD Projekt RED and that they should have moved directly from both. The Polish study proves us right in a very curious way, when he chooses to leave out both consoles that will not receive any DLC, although they will continue to receive patches when necessary, this means that they will not be completely without support.

The fact that this new DLC will be a next-gen and PC exclusive should make the launch possible graphical improvementsand also from a further optimization around more advanced components, in addition with greater use of processors with more than four cores and eight threads.

The Phantom Liberty will be launched in 2023 and will reappear Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. We don’t have many details about this new content, but we can see some very interesting references in the attached video, such as that “V” will serve the New United States of America.
