Intel plans to sell older processors under new names. There are interesting lines in the company’s promotional materials that were leaked to the Internet yesterday, where it is stated that only the processors starting with the Core i5K will be completely new. This apparently starts with the Core i5-13600K.

These CPUs will receive new large Raptor Cove cores with an updated microarchitecture and increased amount of cache. But the rest of the 13th-gen Core processors will actually be rebranded representatives of Alder Lake, although Intel will likely speed them up a bit by increasing the frequencies.

In general, there is nothing new in this approach. Once upon a time, Intel re-released almost identical HEDT Core-X processors twice, and AMD did the same in the mobile segment. However, in the segment of ordinary desktop CPUs, this approach is generally not used.

It is not yet clear whether the young Kernels of the next generation will be much faster than the existing kernels, but you should understand that Alder Lake is also very productive. Additionally, at least for the first time, AMD won’t have anything younger than the $300 Ryzen 5 7600X, and even in the current generation, the Ryzen 5000 series isn’t particularly diverse if we’re talking about its lower segment.
