The Intel Core i5-13600 will be based on Alder Lake technology and not Raptor Lake

Intel is close to being ready for presentation Raptor Lake-S, the next generation of its desktop-oriented processors. All models were expected to use Raptor Cove, its new architecture, however we recently saw that three dice will eventually be used (ten): B-0, which would be Raptor Lake, plus C-0 and H-0, which are Alder Lake.

In other words, among the thirteenth generation of Intel Core processors, there will be models that will be based on Alder Lake technology (Golden Cove architecture), more specifically, non-K models from the i5-13600 and below. The information was indirectly pulled from a leaked sales presentation, in which it was possible to see that the increase in level 2 and 3 caches will only be implemented in Intel Core i5 processors and moves above, indicating that only these models will use the Raptor Cove architecture.

To be more specific about the models, the leaked information indirectly indicates that the processors 13600, 13500, 13400 and 13100belonging to the i5 (mid-range) and i3 (low-range, though not necessarily low-power) series will all use the C-0 matrix except the last one, which will use the H-0.

If confirmed, such a move by Intel would be a little surprising, especially considering that AMD wants to go hard with the Ryzen 7000. One consequence of Golden Cove’s recycling is that low-end cores will have 2 MB of L2 cache instead of 4 MBwhich could pit lower-end 13th-gen Intel Core processors and many mid-range processors against their next-generation equivalents from AMD.

We emphasize that this information comes from an interpretation of some data presented in a leaked sales presentation, but if confirmed and pending whether or not it is about price, Intel would have many options to give space to its direct rival in the mid and low bands.
