AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş participated in the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival Teknofest, Turkey’s largest technology fair, organized under the auspices of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Held for the 5th time this year, the festival took place at Samsun Çarşamba Airport between August 30 and September 4, 2022. More than 100 state institutions, stakeholder institutions and universities from Turkey took part in the festival.
AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş’s booth welcomed the visitors during the 6-day festival. This year, the company prepared an exciting and substantive program to inform the general public of the exhibition visitors about the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) construction project in Turkey, nuclear energy and nuclear technology. Visitors to the booth welcomed the augmented reality and mobile application “NGS with VVER-1200 technology” with interest. By using the application, visitors had the opportunity to see the main facilities and equipment of Akkuyu NPP as well as the working principles of NPP with an interactive 3D model.
An interactive quiz with questions about nuclear energy and environmental awareness was held on the stand especially for children and young people. In the quiz, questions were asked by the rare Caretta Caretta sea turtle animation character, which AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş plays an active role in protecting it. Prizes were awarded to the winners by achieving the most points in the quiz show.
In another part of the booth, young experts from AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. explain the training program of Akkuyu NPP, their work experience at the NPP site and the contribution of nuclear energy to the technological development of Turkey. The video of the virtual tour held at the Akkuyu NPP site, led by Turkish nuclear engineers undergoing special training in Russia, was brought to the attention of the participants thanks to the large screens in the booth. In addition, festival participants could also visit Novovorononej NGS-2, the reference center of Akkuyu NPP, with a virtual tour.
In the photo room next to the stand, visitors breathed the atmosphere of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant and took pictures with luminescent vests and helmets. After the photo shoot, the visitors were presented with photo magnets that made this moment unforgettable. Visitors showed particular interest in the wall that has been set up as a drawing area in the stand. Children and adults wrote their wishes by drawing on the wall.
Akkuyu Nuclear A.Ş Director of the production and construction organization Denis Sezemin provided information about the construction of Akkuyu NPP, upcoming major developments and the socio-economic contribution of the project to Turkey and the region where NPP is located.
AKKUYU NÜKLEER’s booth has become a hub where nuclear developments in the Republic of Turkey are discussed and business comes together. At the booth, the executive representatives of AKKUYU NÜKLEER had the opportunity to meet the rector and faculty members of 19 May’s University in Samsun. University Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal stated that they are looking forward to cooperating with the company on personnel training in the rapidly developing nuclear field in Turkey and creating conditions for the implementation of student exchange programs with technical universities in Russia.
This year, about 1 million 250 thousand people visited TEKNOFEST in Samsun. More than 600 thousand students and teams from all provinces of Turkey and 107 countries applied for the festival’s competition program, which covers 40 different areas.
