Put yourself in the situation: you’re looking for something specific on YouTube, and a lot of it the results you get come from the same channels, either because they are dedicated to this particular topic or because they are trying to attract as many people as possible with videos on this topic. Has this never happened to you?

For me, yes, more than I’d like, and I’m getting tired of scrolling through videos I’ve seen or don’t care about trying to find others that do. Let’s take an example: imagine that I want to search for news, something that just happened, and many of the results I get on YouTube are from the same channels…

In fact, let’s give an example of the truth in what is “news of the day”: the death of Elizabeth II. I type “isabel ii” (without quotes) on YouTube and the results start to appear…: La Vanguardia, El País, RTVE Noticias… plus RTVE, plus El País and more and more and more, more media appear, repeating themselves …

Of course, YouTube doesn’t show me exactly the same as others because it customizes the results based on my history on the platform, although the personalization can back off for specific searches. In fact, it shows me almost the same results when I’m signed in with my Google account than when I’m signed in.

And to continue the example, let’s say it’s the results that I don’t like because I don’t like the media or because I’ve seen it before, they take up everything and make me scroll endlessly, over and over…

Anyway, how do I remove channels I don’t want from YouTube search results? Well, just like in the current Google search, including a simple one operator “-“ (without quotes) and names to avoid. For example:

isabel ii -vanguardia

EITHER:

isabel ii -vanguardia -rtve -país

Before and after:

It’s understandable, isn’t it? Just a note: watch out for accents, it catches them, so if you type “country” instead of “country”, the result won’t be filtered.

And this is how you remove channels from YouTube search results. It’s easy, it’s fast, and it’s effective. The only thing is, you didn’t know or you don’t remember, but that’s what I’m here for.
