AYANEO GEEK, another portable console with AMD

AYANEO GEEK is the latest portable console announced by the Chinese handheld company. It is already available for reservation at a trade-in price of $630 and we are waiting for it in the international market soon.

The Steam Deck was a shock to the segment of portable gaming machines, which, like other electronic products such as compact cameras, went into a clear decline in sales, as the performance and versatility of smartphones increased and users bet on its versatility also when playing mobility.

But it is clear that there is nothing better for gaming than a dedicated console. And AYANEO has a rich catalog that is now expanding with GEEK. The machine will not go unnoticed because of its design transparent chassis and black-purple surface similar to the one used by Nintendo on the Nintendo 64 and Gameboy Color.

The manufacturer continues to bet on AMD hardware and AYANEO GEEK assembles a Ryzen 7 6800U like an engine. This is a very powerful ZEN 3 “Rembrandt” series processor for the machine at hand with its 8 cores and 16 threads, which can work with frequencies up to 4.7 GHz. This series also improves the performance of the graphics part with an RDNA2 chip with 12 computing units (50% more than the Steam Deck) and an increased frequency of up to 2.2 GHz.

The speed of the RAM equipped with it, LPDDR5-6400, and storage with a PCIe 4.0 SSD of up to 512 GB have also been improved. No other specs have been released, but we’re expecting a new USB4 port for charging and data, and 800p or 1200p display options from its 7-inch panel.

AYANEO GEEK is now available for pre-order on its Chinese website starting at RMB 4,399, approx 630 dollars/euro. We will have to wait for the launch on the international market, we assume that in time for the Christmas campaign and at a price higher than in China. These handheld machines are not cheap, but for mobile gaming they are undoubtedly much better than mobile.
