The “repost” feature was spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who posted a screenshot on Twitter. However, it seems that the function has been tested since May, because at that time it was noticed by another user of the social network, Alessandro Paluzzi.

Sharing other people’s posts with your followers is nothing new to Instagram users. The thing is, this function so far only works on Instagram Story or via direct messages. Now, thanks to reposts, users will be able to share a post in their feed without having to take a screenshot and repost or go through another source.

In addition to reposts, Instagram has tweaked its cross-platform sharing capabilities. You can now share a message on Snapchat, Messenger or WhatsApp before sharing it directly with private messages.

Instagram canceled its last update

Recall that Instagram recently canceled a major update due to user complaints. The update displayed images and videos in the feed in full-screen mode, similar to how they appear on TikTok. After numerous complaints, including celebrities, the social network rolled back the update, but did not abandon its efforts to make Instagram an analogue of TikTok.
