Xiaomi has not yet announced MIUI 14, but continues to test its innovations in new test builds of the firmware. One of them (MIUI 14 Early Beta 22.9.7) has features and changes that were not there before: The most notable is the Simple mode, which has been added to the selection menu of the main screen of the MIUI launcher. This was highlighted by the Xiaomiui profile portal.

In the Lite version, the icons are larger and the shortcuts grid is different: three apps are placed in a row (instead of four). This mod does not include the use of the app drawer, but has the usual three navigation buttons (instead of gestures): “Recent apps”, “Home” and “Back”. Simple mode is intended for older users with poor clear vision and unable to adapt to motion navigation.

Another innovation for the home screen: the standard MIUI launcher now becomes more minimalist, allowing you to disable widget subtitles.

Other changes are minor. Updated the VoLTE icon in the status bar:

It also converted the installed Sound Recorder (“Dictaphone”) application.

It is worth noting that only some of the innovations in the new collection were tested. Others have appeared before or will appear later.
