The 2023 season kicks off with the largest VCT tournament. Each team that is our partner will participate in the Season Start Tournament to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The regular season is played in Los Angeles, Seoul and Berlin.
Riot Games today announced details about the 2023 VALORANT Champions Tour format and new events. Any team selected for partnership will be invited to the biggest international tournament in VCT’s history in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to celebrate the start of the new season. During the three-week tournament, VALORANT fans from around the world will meet brand new rosters and see which team makes up the best squad during the off-season. This one-off event starts in February and the winner will be announced in early March. The winning team gives their league the right to send another team to the Masters, the first international event of the season.
After that, the first competitive circuit of the year starts in EMEA, the Pacific and the Americas, with weekly competitions taking place. International League matches take place in three cities, Berlin, Seoul and Los Angeles. In these cities, where players will showcase their talents, events in many different languages are held for audiences around the world. This half kicks off in March and will be an eight-week regular season. Three national champions will be determined in May. There will be two international competition circuits in the coming seasons, but one circuit and one international tournament will be held in 2023 to give the teams enough time to prepare.
Whalen Rozelle, Chief Operating Officer of Esports, Riot Games said: “The VALORANT community’s passion for gaming has enabled us to dream big and take the VALORANT Champions Tour to the next level to meet the massive demand that we see all over the world. “We are combining everything we learned in 2023 with new ideas and forming partnerships that will enable us to realize our dreams in the next version of VCT.”
The Masters, the second international tournament of the year, returns in June with the best teams from each international competition. This event qualifies the best teams from each region directly to the VALORANT World Final, Champions. In July, the Last Chance Qualifiers return, with another qualifier for high-performing teams that have not yet qualified for Champions. One team from each of the three SPEs qualifies for Champions. The VCT season will conclude with Champions in August. In this season of changes and new events, the mission is clear. Grab the Champions Cup and make a name for yourself in history. In the biggest event of the season, teams will fight to become the VALORANT champion.
Riot Games also shared new details of the Challenger Circuit, which will run concurrently with the VCT season. This tournament will enable ambitious teams to participate in the international competition in the 2024 season. Two Challenger circuits will start in January and will conclude with the Ascension tournaments taking place in July. These tournaments feature the best teams from 20 different Challenger competitions.
