Israeli company Meteor Aerospace has introduced a new multi-purpose unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) RAMBOW. The car, which has a 6×6 wheel formula, has an electric motor on each wheel.
Thanks to the independent hydraulic suspension of each wheel, the ground drone is characterized by high passability and maneuverability. Electric motors can be run in two modes, either directly from batteries or using an onboard diesel generator. In the first case, the maximum range of use is 50 km, in the second – 300 km. The machine also has a built-in charger.
RAMBOW UGV has low noise level especially in battery mode.
Application areas of drone:
as a means of supporting the troops, the installation of small arms or missile systems is provided;
to patrol and protect the perimeter of objects or border;
for intelligence operations;
detecting mine barriers;
for logistics operations;
as a means of transporting the wounded;
for special missions.
360° panoramic view cameras and high-definition video cameras are installed on the RAMBOW UGV for reconnaissance missions. All equipment is mounted on a telescopic mast with a length of 3 m in the open state.
Israeli developers have envisioned the following modes for driving an unmanned ground vehicle:
remote operator control;
“go back/forward” mode for another vehicle;
autonomous mode, planned route with obstacle avoidance.
To operate in autonomous mode, the drone is equipped with a system of automatic detection of obstacles and avoidance of collision with them.
