Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro are getting their second software update in a month. This is following their release in August 2022 and the updates improve the stability of the devices.
Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro are successors to Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic. They run on the One UI Watch platform and are the first to be released with Wear OS 3.5. The need to quickly release two updates for the new Galaxy smartwatches could point to internal issues that have been seen since their release. Both models don’t charge as fast as stated prior to release and were a bit thicker than expected. Another observed issue was that the D-Buckle sports strap that came with the Pro model caused problems with some laptops.
The rollout of updates marks Samsung’s response to some of the detected flaws in its new Galaxy smartwatches. The SM-R900 (Galaxy Watch5) and SM-R925 (LTE version of Galaxy Watch5 Pro) will benefit from the latest update. The new update is marked as R9xx0XXU1AVH6 and is rolling out sequentially in all regions. Currently, the update is only available in North America. We expect Samsung to expand its distribution to other continents soon. According to Samsung, the update includes a set of security patches for devices from July 2022.
New software updates for Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro will improve overall system stability and reliability. It also applies new stabilization codes to the watch, but there is no new feature in the last update. Source
