Sony has released a system software update for the PlayStation 5. The firmware number 22.01-05.02.00 is already available for installation for PS5 users worldwide.
As with most Sony game console firmware updates, release descriptions are minimal and are meant to improve system performance only. However, the update may bring other changes that the company did not report. This is evidenced by a significant amount of updates – about 1 GB.
Sony explains in a release note:
“This system software update will improve console performance. System updates are usually automatically downloaded to the console. You can also manually download the latest firmware through the PS5 system settings (Settings>System>System Software>System Software Update).
