Management slowly begins take advantage of citizens’ mobile phones to facilitate procedures and queries. The best proof of this at the national level is ‘My Citizen Folder’, which has started pilot testing. And at the local level, the Community of Madrid offers a mobile app that anyone using public transport will love.
This is ‘Transport Card’, a free app for iOS and Android. recharge and check balance of cards We’ve already tested the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium’s (CRTM) public transport in Xataka Móvil to tell you what can and cannot be done with it.
Just to recharge and check balance
CRTM cards
After a long testing phase, the ‘Transport Card’ application is now available to everyone on the App Store and Google Play. It can be downloaded for free from any terminal with Android 5 or higher or iOS 14 or higher. The only requirement to use that the mobile phone has NFC and connected to the Internet (via WiFi or mobile data).
Besides reading our card from the homepage, main menu by pressing the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner. In it we will find the following options:
balance / charge: you can check the current balance and/or load it to the card.
Credit card: allows you to save a bank card to make a payment or check what you have saved.
bills: simplified recharge invoices are stored here.
Messages: with notifications, messages and alerts from the app.
Information: Contains links to TTP’s terms of use and frequently asked questions; It also allows you to report the events and errors of the application.
The process of both saving a debit card and reading and reloading the balance is very simple and fast. For save bank cardyou just need to enter your data (card number, expiration date and CVV) and verify the transaction with your bank’s app (it’s free).
For check the balance of your transport cardjust press the option on the main page, bring the transportation card close to the back of the mobile phone and the tickets you have loaded will appear instantly.
If you want to reinstall, do the following:
when they appear the invoices you have uploaded on the transport card, separate it from the back of the mobile phone.
Select the title you want to upload. It can be a new one that you have already installed or by clicking. ‘Show titles to reload’.
To choose the bank card you want to pay. If you have not registered before, then you can create a new registration.
Confirm that the title you selected is the one you want to purchase. ‘Confirm and reload’.
Follow your bank’s instructions for payment.
After payment, the app will prompt you. that you are approaching the transport card again to the mobile phone’s NFC reader for charging.
when i show up ‘Charge completed successfully’, disconnect the transport card from the mobile. You can look at the balance or the simplified invoice to verify that the top up was done correctly.
While the interface is somewhat archaic, the truth is that the implementation simple, fast and works well. Note that it only allows you to top up or check the balance of the transport card, it is not used to verify or use trips, so we still have to carry our physical card with us.
But hey, at least we will save queues on machines we will always know how many times we are left available to recharge the balance. Hopefully soon, we can do without the physical card.
