As reported by Ukrinform, The National reported it.
The launch window will be open from November 9-15.
It is stated that the Rashid rover will be launched from the spaceport in Florida thanks to the Falcon 9 launch vehicle of Elon Musk’s SpaceX company.
For the UAE, this will be the first mission in a long-term lunar exploration program that will include the development and launch of several rover and orbital vehicles.
The Rashid mission will last one lunar day, or 14 Earth days. Its purpose will be to study the properties of the lunar soil, the petrography and geology of the Moon, the movement of dust, as well as the state of the plasma and photoelectron shell on the lunar surface.
The mission’s goal is to land in Atlas Crater at the Mare Frigoris site, located on the northernmost side of the Moon visible from Earth.
The mission is expected to land on the moon’s surface in March next year, thanks to Ispace’s Japanese Hakuto-R Mission 1 instrument.
According to the news of Ukrinform, the astronaut from Sultan Al-Neyadi from the United Arab Emirates will go to the International Space Station, where he will stay for 6 months in 2023.
