Kaspersky experts, Queen II. He discovered several investment projects that offer cryptocurrencies and NFTs that are named after Elizabeth and are “a tribute to His Majesty.” Events of great importance around the world are often used as attractions for many crypto investment firms. The Queen’s death is no exception. Such sites are quite new and may not be safe. Therefore, if the site’s database is leaked, all crypto wallet details that users enter may be at risk.

In memory of the world’s longest reigning queen, commemorative coins or T-shirts featuring her majesty are sold online. Most of the sites where such goods are presented are quite new, they are not secured in any way and do not redirect the user to a special secure page at checkout. As a result, card details, addresses or usernames may remain unprotected. This means that if the site’s database is compromised, this information can be stolen by intruders.

That is why when buying souvenirs online, only trusted stores should be preferred for purchase. At the same time, it should not be forgotten to check the website address of the store. Often, scammers create phishing pages that resemble real well-known brands. Also, cyber criminals often offer low prices compared to other stores to obtain user login credentials and credit card payment details. Therefore, large discounts should be approached with skepticism.

However, sites that offer such products are often hastily created by people who don’t care about their safety. When purchasing anything from such sites, keep in mind that many of them are not secure and data entered on such pages is likely to be leaked. Therefore, a robust and secure solution must be used to protect it. It is also necessary to buy only in trusted stores and be wary of underpriced products.”

Based on these latest developments, Kaspersky recommends users ensure that you shop safely online:

  • Make sure the online payment page is secure to protect your data and payment information. Check if the web page URL starts with HTTPS instead of regular HTTP. A lock icon should appear next to the URL and in some browsers the address bar will turn green. If you don’t see this, don’t go any further.
  • You can use a reliable security solution that can help you verify the security of the URL you visit. You may also want to consider opening each site in a secure container to prevent sensitive data from being stolen.
  • Make sure all your software is up to date. Update your operating system and applications. Attackers exploit loopholes in commonly used programs to gain input.
