The latest rumors we know of suggest that Microsoft will be preparing the device Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 in view of the event scheduled for October 2022. The German media WinFuture was able to get acquainted with the main characteristics of each of them, which stand out by using Intel processors of the Alder Lake generation, in the absence of official confirmation.

When it comes to the Surface Pro 9, the next generation of Microsoft’s flagship computer line, its focus is on the processor Intel Core i5-1235U for the basic configuration and Core i7-1255U for the most powerful variants. The door is still open for other CPU models to be included, but there doesn’t seem to be any AMD Ryzen yet.

The Intel Core i5-1235U processor has two high-performance cores running at a maximum frequency of 4.4 GHz and eight low-power cores running at a frequency of 3.3 GHz. Compared to the Core i5-1135G7 that the Surface Pro 8 uses, performance should improve by 22%.

The Intel Core i7-1255U is equipped with the same number of cores and in the same configuration as the Core i5-1235U, but the powerful ones manage to work at a maximum frequency of 4.7 GHz and the efficient ones reach 3.0.5 GHz. Again, compared to the Core i7-1185G7 used by more powerful Surface Pro 8 configurations, performance should improve by 12%.

Moving on to the other features of the alleged Surface Pro 9, it is speculated that it might once again use the 13.5-inch PixelSense display. As far as memory goes, I’d settle for sa a maximum of 16 GB of RAM and data storage options ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB.

The Surface Laptop 5 would have similar internalsbut it would still be up in the air if Microsoft decided to sell configurations with 16 GB of RAM, while in storage it seems clear that options from 256 GB to 1 TB will be available.

Surface Pro 9 could have an ARM processor variant, more specifically Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen3, along with support for 5G networks. WinFuture says the entry-level Surface Pro 9 with an Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will cost €1,300. The base Surface Laptop 5 model with a 13.5-inch screen would start at 1,200 euros, while the 15-inch screen variant would have a base price of 1,500 euros.

It’s important to note that this isn’t an official figure, but WinFuture seems pretty confident in what they’ve released. Despite everything, we may learn all the details and variants of the Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 equipment next month.
