The RCH 155 remote-controlled howitzer is a self-propelled artillery installation (SAU) on the 8 × 8 chassis of a Boxer armored personnel carrier with a 155-mm gun. It was developed by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and is a further technological development of the PzH2000 self-propelled gun.

Unlike its predecessor, the RCH 155 artillery gun module is cheaper to manufacture and is led by a crew of only 2 people, three more are required for the PzH 2000.

The artillery system is armed with a 155 mm L52 cannon, approximately 8 meters long and compatible with all standard NATO shells of the appropriate caliber. The RCH 155 self-propelled gun has a fully automatic recharge system with 30 equipped rounds of ammunition and a modular charge of 144 rounds. The maximum firing range with a standard projectile is up to 30 km, and with a long-range active-reactive V-LAP projectile – up to 56 km. The maximum rate of fire can reach 9 shots per minute.

The RCH 155 self-propelled gun has an improved fire control system. The crew of the car receives target guidance from radio communications. The shot is fired from afar by the crew in the cabin of the ACS. However, in the event of a collision or malfunction, this artillery system can be loaded and fired manually. The time between reaching the firing position and opening fire is approximately 30 seconds. After firing the last bullet, the self-propelled gun can quickly leave its position.

The body of the artillery equipment is made of modular armor combined with ceramic protection. The triple bottom has a shape that provides maximum protection against anti-tank mines and improvised explosive devices. Damaged plates can be easily replaced in the field.

The tower is made of light aluminum armor and provides protection against only 12.7 mm small arms and artillery shell fragments. The self-propelled gun is also equipped with a crew protection system against weapons of mass destruction. In addition, this artillery system has low radar and acoustic visibility, which makes it difficult to detect.

The RCH 155 self-propelled vehicle is equipped with a powerful MTU 199TE20 turbocharged diesel engine. It can accelerate the 39-ton highway installation to 100 km/h for a range of 700 km. An auxiliary power plant is also installed on it, which supplies power to all necessary systems when the main engine is turned off.

The self-propelled vehicle is equipped with a central tire inflation system that improves its driving ability on terrains such as sand, snow and mud. Accordingly, if necessary, it can be quickly deployed from one place to another.
