Security researcher Sam Curry he told me on twitterreceived an undisclosed $250,000 payment from Google. For three weeks he tried unsuccessfully to find out what kind of money it was and why it came, but technical support could not help him.
whose money
Sam Curry works as a security engineer at Yuga Labs. He’s been investigating various vulnerabilities and was probably doing it for Google – that’s how he got his company account number. The researcher did not spend the money received because he was sure that the translation was wrong.
It’s been a little over three weeks since Google accidentally sent me $249,999 and I still haven’t heard from the support team. Is there another way to contact Google?
Curry wrote in his tweet.
Curry’s suspicions were fully justified. After publicity on social networks, the company finally drew attention to the event, and a representative said the payment was made “due to the human factor”:
Our team recently paid the wrong party due to human error. We appreciate that the person receiving the payment reported the situation quickly and we are working to rectify the situation,
– commented on the company.
It is not known exactly who should receive this money.
