As company representatives confirm to the source, the feature is in the early stages of development. It is unknown if it will be extended to other Meta services, primarily Facebook.

Detail

On September 19, insider Alessandro Paluzzi wrote about the upcoming update. He posted the first image showing a message box providing instructions on the new feature.

“Technology on your device blocks photos that may contain nudity in chats. Instagram CANNOT ACCESS photos.”

The company compares such controls to the “Secret Words” feature, which allows users to automatically filter out direct message requests with offensive content.

According to Meta, the technology will prevent Meta itself from viewing and sharing messages with third parties.

We’re working closely with experts to ensure that these new features keep people in control of the messages they receive while protecting their privacy.
Meta rep Liz Fernandez said.

More detailed information will emerge in the next few weeks, when the first tests among users will begin.
