The combat vehicle was shown as part of the NATO Days 2022 event. So the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is trying to introduce the Trophy ASP to the European market.
On the side of the tank are the flags of the countries using the Leopard 2A7 tank: Germany, Austria, Denmark, Greece, Finland, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Bahrain and Singapore.
Trophy ASP is an active tank protection system. The alternative name is ASPRO-A, short for Armored Shield Protection – Active. The armor, as part of the tests, managed to reflect the shots of an anti-tank guided missile without a warhead.
The system includes a detector that can determine where the tank is firing from. After that, the on-board computer calculates the trajectory and commands the device to destroy the ammunition when approaching the combat vehicle.
Trophy ASP uses Elta’s EL/M-2133 radar stations. They correspond to the detection and identification of rockets or rocket-propelled grenades. In addition, stations activate launchers launched by interceptors to destroy ammunition.
