Samsung hopes to start updating its Galaxy smartphones to the latest Android 13 operating system in 2022. The distribution will take place as part of the new One UI 5 firmware, which is currently in public beta testing. Now, certain details of the process, namely which models will receive Android 13 and under what conditions, have become clear. This was reported by the SamMobile publication citing their source.
According to SamMobile, the release of the stable version of the Android 13-based One UI 5 update will definitely happen before the start of 2023, that is, literally in the coming months. The priority will be the flagships of the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 lines, as well as the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The availability of One UI 5 has been announced for the Galaxy A53, one of Samsung’s most successful offerings in the mid-range segment.
The Galaxy A53 went on sale in March, with the manufacturer promising an ambitious four-year full Android update for the smartphone. The model originally ships with One UI 4.1 (Android 12) out of the box, making the upcoming One UI 5 the first major firmware update for it. There’s no word yet on support for other Galaxy devices, but most likely the rest of the planned smartphones will start updating within the next year.
