The Mazda company is considering the possibility of completely stopping the production of cars in Russia.
This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to Nikkei Asia.
“Mazda is considering the possibility of shutting down production in Russia as supply chain disruptions caused by the war in Ukraine make it difficult to restart operations,” the report said.
It is stated that Mazda produces cars in a joint venture with Sollers. Production was already stopped in the spring, and now the Japanese company is considering the possibility of completely withdrawing from the joint project.
According to the publication, the decision to stop the sale or maintenance of cars in Russia has not yet been taken.
As reported by Ukrinform, Toyota is closing its factory in Russia. Such a decision is connected with the impossibility of continuing the supply of components to Russia. At the same time, the company is not yet leaving Russia.
Toyota production in Russia began in 2007. President Putin attended the first stone-laying ceremony and subsequent launch of the future venture in 2005. Another factory in the Moscow suburbs, whose opening was attended by Putin – Mercedes – is now for sale.
After Russia’s extensive invasion of Ukraine on February 24, democratic countries imposed sanctions on Russia that affected all sectors of the economy. More than a thousand foreign companies announced that they were leaving the country.
