A few weeks have passed since the introduction of the iPhone 14, even though with more than significant differences in the current availability on the market, four models of this generation are already on sale. If you want the 14 or 14 Plus, you’ll only have to wait a few hours or days, while if you go for the Pro, or the impressive iPhone 14 Pro Max we’ve already tested, the wait will stretch to weeks. and maybe in a short time up to more than a month, given the high demand.

Now, with the arrival of the first units on the market, we have started to have reports of some problems in this new generation. Some would apply to all models, others are limited to only a part of them. And most notably, depending on where we read it, the incidents appear to be in the process of being resolved or slightly less than the Armageddon of the iPhone, Apple, and possibly civilization as we know it today. . It is somewhat reminiscent of those numbers of participants in demonstrations and similar events, when the organizers talk about hundreds of thousands of participants, their opponents claim that there were five to six people, and in the end, practically always the real numerical value is unknown.between the two values.

Therefore, we will look at the main problems that have been mentioned so far, trying to clarify at what point each of them is. If this information should put you off buying an iPhone 14 for the time being, or if it reassures you enough to decide that it’s time and you want to get a new phone as soon as possible, it’s not something we should tell you, but a decision you have to make to do.

Earlier this week, Apple released iOS 16, the long-awaited overhaul of the iPhone operating system. What went a bit unnoticed is that hours after the launch Apple released its first update, iOS 16.0.1. Why? Well, because Apple has already identified some problems that were exclusively limited to the iPhone 14. Thus, they managed to anticipate the arrival of the first models on the market with an update that solved the following problems, described by Apple:

• Activation of iMessage and FaceTime may not be complete.
• When zooming in horizontally on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, photos could be washed out.
• Enterprise single sign-on applications may fail during authentication.

Apple released a new update a few days later, iOS 16.0.2this one for multiple iPhone models and versions,

• When using some third-party apps to take photos on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the camera may shake and cause blurry photos.
• The screen may go completely black while the device is being set up.
• When copying and pasting content between applications, the permissions message may appear more times than expected.
• After restarting the device, VoiceOver may not be available.
• Fixed an issue that caused some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 to become unresponsive to taps on the screen after a fix.

When it comes to the iPhone 14, the three issues that have been mentioned the most are as follows:

• Camera shake with third-party apps.
• Problems migrating data between devices.
• Problems with the sound quality of calls via CarPlay.

So just take a quick look at iOS 16.0.2 and the issues it fixes to see that at least in principle this update should fix the first two. As for the third, it is true that Apple has not apparently confirmed its receipt, but once we know how Cupertino usually acts in these cases, they are usually silent until they have a definitive answer, either in the form of an update that solves the problem, or if it is not possible (which I doubt will happen in this case), with a special service plan to repair/replace affected devices.

So, with a bit of perspective, I personally believe it in some cases it is grossly exaggerated not with regard to the problems that actually exist and are accredited, but to their actual impact. That said, to reiterate what I said earlier, I’m not going to be the one to tell you whether or not you should buy the iPhone 14 right now. Contrary to what other media seems to think, I believe you have more than enough criteria to come to the conclusion that suits you best.
