The American company Clean Earth Rovers has developed an electric autonomous robot that collects garbage in the water.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by CBS News.

The robot can collect up to 45 kg of garbage in one go, cleaning marinas and coastal waterways, both autonomously and with the help of a joystick.

Recycled mesh garbage bags have holes large enough to keep small marine life out of the trap.

The robot is also battery powered, meaning it is 100% electric. In addition, the device uses special software to avoid obstacles such as boats and animals in the water.

The device is also said to be able to collect ocean data such as water temperature, hydrogen levels, oxygen recovery potential, how clean the water is, and the amount of bacteria in the water.

According to the United Nations Environment Program, 11 million tons of plastic and garbage enter the world’s oceans every year. Of this, 6.6 million tons of garbage continues to circulate in coastal waterways and beaches.
