Windows 11 2022 (22H2) arrived last week with news like the new Task Manager with Productivity Mode and Clipchamp as a video editor. However, the latest version of Microsoft’s new operating system has also released an interesting security feature.
This is enhanced anti-phishing protection in Microsoft Defender Smartscreen, a tool to help us. prevent phishing attacks keeping our system password safe. Of course, we will need to activate this feature first.
How to enable Windows 11 phishing protection
Before enabling this new security feature, we must state that: only available on Windows 11 2022, so if you have an older version, you need to upgrade first. If the update has not yet arrived, there is a possibility that you will force it.
You should also note that this feature will not work if you log in with Windows Hello or PIN. You must sign in with your Microsoft password. Having said that, let’s move on.
click Start > Adjustment > Privacy and Security > window security > App and browser control > Reputation-Based Protection Settings.
in the section Phishing protectionYou will find three options:
- Warn me about malicious apps and sites. When we enter an app or web page that may be compromised, it will display a warning.
- Warn me about password reuse. It will show a warning when we try to use our Microsoft account password in other apps or web pages.
- Warn me about keeping unsafe passwords. It will give a warning when we type our password in applications such as Notepad, WordPad and Microsoft Office.
Make sure all three checkboxes are checked to increase the security of your operating system.
