A research group from Kyoto University (Japan) demonstrated a humanoid robot with artificial intelligence that understands human humor.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by NHK.
Researchers have added artificial intelligence to an already existing humanoid robot that can perform simple conversations so it can analyze laughter.
The robot adapts to the human voice and laughs naturally according to the volume and content of the speech.
“When I first heard the robot laugh at the right time, I thought we could really communicate with each other,” said Associate Professor Inoue Koji of Kyoto University’s Institute of Informatics.
He hopes robots like this will be valuable helpers for humans, especially as society ages.
Next, the team of researchers plans to examine the impact of shared robot laughter on human psychology.
As Ukrinform reports, the American company Clean Earth Rovers has developed an electric autonomous robot that collects garbage from the water.
