NASA probe shows surface of Jupiter’s icy moon
The space probe of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Juno took a photo of the surface of Europa, a moon of the planet Jupiter.

This is stated in the press release of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), according to Ukrinform reports.

Capturing features of the surface near Europe’s equator, the photo was taken on September 29 during the solar-powered spacecraft’s maximum approach – about 352 kilometers away.

This is the third close flyby in history at less than 500 kilometers and the closest view of Europa by a spacecraft since January 3, 2000, when NASA’s Galileo probe reached 351 kilometers.

Europa is the sixth largest moon in the solar system and is slightly smaller than Earth’s moon.

Scientists believe there is a salty ocean beneath its icy surface, which is miles thick.

As Ukrinform reports, the Juno space probe photographed eddies near Jupiter’s north pole.
