The company had planned to launch the rocket from the spaceport in the state of California (USA) on Friday morning. The 29-foot rocket’s engines started, but were shut down almost instantly.
“After the engines started, the rocket went into automatic launch stop mode. This is provided by the safety system. The team has canceled today’s launch attempt and is reviewing the data to determine the next launch window.” said Firefly Aerospace.
Alpha’s first launch attempt in September 2021 failed, with one of its engines shutting down prematurely shortly after launch.
Firefly Aerospace is a private aviation company created on the basis of Firefly Space Systems, which was acquired and relaunched in 2017 by Maksym Polyakov, a Ukrainian entrepreneur and founder of Noosphere Ventures. In February of this year, he sold his stake in the company due to a requirement from the US government.
